If you love The Thing (1982), you should try The Thing (2011). It’s not a remake, but a faithful prequel about the Norwegian researchers; it ends right where ’82’s story begins. Dir. van Heijningen hoped people might watch them in the same sitting, a sign of respect for the master, evidenced by 1) no attempt to remake classic scenes, 2) subtle references for continuity, 3) success at being truly inventive with material clearly grounded in the same universe. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌗
